Brewing Characteristics:
- Delivers a juicy, very fruity aroma/flavor that pops, especially in light malt bases
- Noted for a uniquely strawberry-melon core, making it popular for summer ales and hazy beers
- Clean bitterness and a soft finish, supporting both late additions and dry-hopping
- Shines in single-hop beers, or as a top-note in blends for fruited or sessionable styles

- Blonde Ale, Wheat Beer, Session IPA, Hazy IPA, American Pale Ale
- Summer Ale, Fruit Beer, Kölsch
- Cream Ale
Substitutes:
- Strata (for berry and tropical notes)
- El Dorado (candy, pear, and stone fruit notes)
- Cashmere (for melon/tropical notes, though lighter on the berry)
Fun Fact:
Belma’s intense strawberry note is rare among hops and often draws comparisons to fruit snacks or strawberry gum! It’s often chosen for beers meant to taste “juicy,” and it’s a hit in crowd-pleasing, refreshing summer recipes.
