- Dual-purpose, but historically used as a bittering hop
Typical Alpha Acids:
- 5.5–8.5%

Aroma & Flavor Notes:
- Floral: Bright wildflowers
- Fruit: Ripe lemon, light orange, a hint of peach
- Spicy: Mild black pepper, clean classic hop spice

- Earthy: Balanced, light, never muddy
- Other: Occasionally described as “old world” or “grape candy,” especially in heavy doses
Brewing Characteristics:
- Noted for clean, neutral bitterness and classic “old-school” American hop bouquet
- Ideal for base bittering in a wide array of beer styles, especially pre-prohibition lagers and cream ales
- Elegant as a late addition in historic/revivalist recipes
Best Beer Styles:
- Cream Ale, Classic Lager (American, Steam)
- Blonde Ale, Wheat, Amber Lager
- Porter, historical beer styles
Substitutes:
- Galena (milder, with similar citrus/floral)
