Germany (bred at the Hop Research Center Hüll, released 2020s)

Type:

Aroma (modern, intensely tropical and fruit-forward)

Typical Alpha Acids:

10–14%

  • Berry: Hints of gooseberry
  • Other: Melon, light herbal undertones
Brewing Characteristics:
  • Delivers a bold tropical fruit punch with layers of citrus and stone fruit
  • High alpha acids make it suitable for both bittering and late/dry hop additions
  • Adds juicy, vibrant character without grassy or earthy notes
  • Pairs well with other German “new world” varieties and American aroma hops
Best Beer Styles:
  • IPA, NEIPA, Hazy Pale Ale
  • Wheat Beer
  • Blonde or Golden Ale
  • Fruit-forward Lager
  • Experimental and seasonal styles
Substitutes:
  • Callista (lower alpha, more berry/stone fruit)
  • Hallertau Blanc (more grape, less tropical)
  • Mandarina Bavaria (more orange, less passionfruit/mango)
Fun Fact:

Solero is part of Germany’s new wave of hops bred for bold, exotic flavors—bringing a tropical twist to classic European styles.
